Why Use Bibliographies?

Bibliographies point you to some of the most important resources on a subject, which can include secondary as well as primary sources. Like dictionaries and encyclopedias, bibliographies can be general in nature or focus on a more specific subject, with some even providing helpful research guides.

When using a bibliography, be sure to check how current the information is. A bibliography published in the 1970s, for example, will be missing any current published research from its index.
