Getting Started

This guide lists frequently used statistical resources across several academic disciplines. If you would like to see your discipline represented or suggest additional resources, email researchdesk@daemen.edu.

When possible, this guide draws on governmental statistical sources as they are freely accessible and given their relatively large sample sizes and transparent methodologies.

Statistical data is most often considered a primary source, particularly when it is reported by the same organization that collected this data. Example: census counts transmitted by the United States Census Bureau. You might find statistical information cited in secondary sources such as academic articles. When possible, track down the original source of those statistics, particularly when you need the most up-to-date statistics.

Finally, these statistical sources may or may not include original data sets (i.e. raw data). If you are seeking data sets, the library can assist you. Contact researchdesk@daemen.edu.
